HOLLISTER FARM TO TABLE MARKET TO OPEN JUNE 2
The farmers market will bring together agriculture and small business markets for year-round project.

Hollister, MO – The Farm to Table Market, located in Hollister at 118 Symington Place, will open to the public on June 2 and run through October 29, thanks to the committee of community stakeholders that secured a Rural Development Grant through a cooperative partnership with the USDA and the Missouri Incutech Foundation for a feasibility study.

Brian Atchley of Tri-Lakes Orchard says the opening of Hollister Farm to Table Market is helping Taney County take steps to being known again for producing locally-grown foods. “This project will be a multi-year process to restore the meat, fruit and vegetable production locally,” says Atchley. “With consumer support, we hope to have berries and vegetables this year and fruit producing trees in the years to come.”

According to a USDA release, local farmers who sell products through local markets will create new outlets for their production. The cooperatively owned and operated facility will find markets for fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products. The project is expected to add an economic boost to the community in addition to providing increased access to locally sourced foods and products.

“Hollister Farm to Table promises to bring an exciting partnership of area agricultural producers, emerging entrepreneurs and local businesses together to offer our consumers the fresh produce and the best of a large cross-section of local products which are becoming an ever larger part of today’s lifestyle,” said Rick Ziegenfuss, Hollister City Administrator.  “The City is pleased to have this initiative underway in our community and is looking forward to its growth and further development.”

The Farm to Table Market will be open Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The Market is now accepting vendor applications and aims to accommodate vendors of all sizes in a short-notice market season for a one-time membership fee of $5 plus five percent of daily sales. Prospective vendors can call (417) 527-5958 or send an email to apply.
