State Resources for Employers

Missouri Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Since its enactment by Congress in 1997, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) Program has been integral to the creation of jobs by giving employers a tax credit when they hire qualified individuals who consistently face significant barriers to employment.

This Federal tax credit incentive program enables the new employees to gradually move from economic dependency into self-sufficiency as they earn a steady income and become contributing taxpayers, while participating employers are compensated by reducing their federal income tax liability.

On-The-Job-Training (OJT) allows an employer to be reimbursed up to 50% of the wages for hiring and training an individual “on-the-job.”

Work Ready Missouri

Work Ready Missouri is a training program that assists businesses to train potential employees who are receiving unemployment benefits.

Federal Bonding

The Missouri Federal Bonding Program is a no-cost, job-incentive program to increase the hiring of job seekers and to promote the retention of employees considered to be “at risk.”

Youth Employment

Early work experience helps lay a strong foundation for our youth to become contributing members of the community. Businesses are responsible for: establishing tasks participants will be performing, supervising the youth worker, coordinating with Job Center staff to ensure the work experience is meaningful, resolving any issues that may arise with the youth, and providing constructive feedback to the youth regarding their work performance.
